Regional Meals from the Heartland Packing Event

The 2nd Regional Mobile Meals from the Heartland Hunger Fight is being planned for Friday, April 10th. The location for the packing event will once again be the Audubon Iowa National Guard Armory. This past year in Iowa over 1 million pounds of rice and 375,000 pounds of soy were packed into 10,658,144 nutrient enriched meals by over 47,800 volunteers from across the state. Meals from the Heartland (MFTH) has set a goal of packing 15 million meals for this year, 2015.

There will be a sign up sheet available for volunteers for one hour shifts of individuals or teams beginning Monday, March 2nd, 2015. You can call 563-2625 or stop at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon to volunteer. Hourly shifts will be ten people to a table with eighty volunteers packing meals each hour. The one hour shifts will be 3:00-4:00, 4:00-5:00, 5:00-6:00, 6:00-7:00, and 7:00-8:00. We may add more tables or extend the hours if enough donations are provided.
